When testing is often on mobile to look for what distinguishes a model from another, sometimes it is played on details (design, slight change specifications, to the point that it becomes almost boring.
And sometimes, on rare occasions, we come across an exceptional device. A smartphone extraordinary sense of the term. A device that fits in some ways inevitably beyond the mass point where it becomes a new reference, it leaves all competition years back.
The Nokia 808 is one of these devices. Before him devices that come to mind are the iPhone and the touch interface and the latest Nokia have had this status is in my opinion the N95 for its Photos / Multimedia / GPS.
In addition to the 808 PureView it becomes even more special because it is the latest high-end Symbian, a sort of best of ultimate risk of a serious case of some consciousness.
The 808 PUREVIEW is it as good as what Nokia said?
Does it really measure up to the cameras? And opposite the reference Nokia N8?
What about Symbian Belle on the 808?
Finally, should I buy the 808 knowing the future of Symbian and the next arrival of this technology on Windows Phone?
The N8 is it independent of its photo sensor a good choice?
Answers in this test.
Between the time when the 808 was announced PureView and when I got it in my hands I had it all wrong! Of course, like everyone else, I was impressed by the photo features of the device, but I had not seen that part of the iceberg.
Yes, an essential element I missed ....
This is the first Symbian device "complete". The only filling ALL options imaginable data sheet.
Remember:
Nokia N8: Xenon flash and expandable memory but no screen CBD, external battery, screen or NFC CBD
Nokia C7/701: CBD screen and NFC but no HDMI and Xenon ...
Nokia X7: 4 inch CBD screen but EDOF camera sensor
Nokia N9: NFC, but no FM transmitter, Flash Xeno, HDMI output
....
I could go on for hours but you understand the principle. The 808 is the first Nokia PureView combining the following characteristics:
Clear Black Display Screen 4 inches
Internal memory (16GB) AND microSD slot (up to 64GB!)
HDMI output
Expandable battery
Sensor and Carl Zeiss Xenon Flash
NFC
FM Transmitter
...
Look no further EVERYTHING there. And you know what? Not only is the Nokia's most comprehensive on paper, but no smartphone has never done so many features. So yes, we know, in 2012, is not what makes a good smartphone PureView otherwise the 808 would be simply the best smartphone in the world. But I thought the point needed to be addressed.
Besides this, note that the 808 PureView embeds 512 MB of RAM and is equipped with a single core processor ARM 11 clocked at 1.3 Ghz. We are far from stupid war equipping concurence but we know that Symbian OS is a frugal has never needed large configurations to run correctly.
Note that even when the 808 is the first to use the Symbian format Micro SIM card. So remember to equip yourself.
